CHRISTMAS DAY is nearly upon us ....

 

Christmas day is nearly upon us and I have been so busy that I havn't reported here about half the things that I said I would...sorry! I have been bad! real bad!...I have actually got caught up in the christmas frenzy thingy!...but this year it is different...I am enjoying it!

Yes we have snow, and that has helped as it feels sooo special, even though I am such a baby, walking along on the ice! tut tut! you want to see me - its hilarious! thats the main reason why I have not been out taking pictures of our many neighbours lights! I am a scaredy cat! I have seen pensioners walk along in the snow faster than me! LOL! It really puts me to shame!

We have been out though, oh yes, we have been shopping in Maidstone yesterday and have picked up some last minute bargains, and I have decided that I like getting caught up in the frenzy...okay okay, I know I said I wouldn't! but I have saved alot of money cutting corners and making things, and it was nice being out shopping for a change, as Maidstone is one of those centres that is mostly outside, so you get the atmosphere, which is missing from the big undercover centres that I hate.

Its was nice to still see some colour in the shops too, as I hate it when the seasons change for winter and the shop keepers seem to think that all we want to wear is dreary colours! surely that will make people feel more depressed!...since wearing primary colours, I have felt so much better in myself! Who needs a tonic!LOL!

All I have to do now is wrap them all up!..I have two more pressies to make and then I will be finished....but isn't it lovely wrapping pressies listening to christmas tunes and drinking mulled wine! hmmmm! another excuse to be merry!

Today I plan to do all my housework and a bit of washing and ironing! Oh and of course get the christmas shopping!...I am a BIG Aldi convert! I used to shop at Tesco's or M & S, but these days its Aldi all the way for me....the price of the food helps! but the brands are german and everything is sooo delicious and about a third of the price of everywhere else...my shopping used to cost about £110 for the week whereas now....at the fabulous Aldi, it only costs about £60 and that is with all the lovely treats as well!...see you there! ;)

Do you like my christmas piccies of the sitting room...its sooo cosy in there...we have moved the scandinavian style christmas tree a couple of times to accommodate TV watching, which is soo important for this time of year! Rock on Dr Who and The Queens Speech!

Anyway, I have decided that I will get all my jobs done today and then I will be free to chill, all holiday...hahaha! thats the plan anyway!

Its really weird...I used to be one of those people that got carried away at christmastime, buying everything in sight, thinking that my family wouldn't love me, if I didnt drown them with presents...I totally forgot the true meaning of christmas...which I think was so sad!

Okay so yesterday I did have a little spend up...but I never went half as mad as I have in the past and yet this year of all years I am enjoying this holiday time so much more! Ironic isn't it!

I suppose it just goes to show that money isn't everything...money doesn't buy you happiness...its learning to love yourself and each other and teaching one another that the best present you can give is your love and attention!

We have thoroughly enjoyed the build up to Christmas as I hope all of you have too! Have fun all of you lovely people...Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year :)

Christmas Countdown

Well gals, here we are with a week to go until Christmas Day...doesn't time fly when you are having fun! I actually said that I wouldn't go mad this year...but I still seem to find myself out and about! and in a PANIC!....This morning we woke up to a blanket of snow...and 'blighty' is not very good at coping with these kind of conditions, listening to the news, the weather men were advising not to go out at all!....and driving Rosie to work we realised that most people had decided to take that advice....it was very treacherous on the roads, but seeing as we were out, I took this opportunity to get a few more presents at the shopping centre, as there was hardly anyone out shopping!

As you know over the weeks we have been picking up vintage decorations and someone mentioned the other day about the fairy (HERE)(above above!)....if she was ok being there and not on top of the Christmas tree, well this got me a thinking and whilst we were out the other day, we spotted these darling friends for her.....the spotty mouse, knitted angel, hangy Father Christmas and the one eyed deer...which I just couldn't resist!...I am much happier now! as, although they all look rather crowded up there...at least she now has some company  ;)

Also lately I have noticed that bottle brush Christmas trees are fetching a fortune on ebay!...well these little goodies (pictured above) we found in the 99p store! Yes Gals...I paid 99p for all 3! What a bargain eh!

This little tree was also found last week, we also bought a red one too!...More bargain charity shop finds!...

 

During the week my Secret Santa arrived! Thankyou sooooo much Teresa :)...I must say that I havn't opened it yet as I want to keep it for Christmas day...I love surprises :) I hope you don't mind honey, but once I have opened it and all, I will blog about it, thats for sure :)

As I have said before, we have been busy making pressies and all! and although it has been Freddies responsibility to make the cards this year!....he has only managed to make two so far...but they are sooo lovely...the one above is for his parents...which is more of a wall hanging than a card....isn't it beautiful!

 

 ...And the one tucked behind the ' raisins' tin is for my Mum....the designs are really lovely, but I am not sure how many more he is going to make, but I hope he does, as it will be a pleasure to send them :)

But the best thing to of happened this week....was our lovely son Daz, wanting to come home and spend the month with us, initially he was only going to come home for a few days over christmas!..but the other day he rang us up and asked if he could come home now!....its been lovely having him home....and learning about everything that he has been upto!...Its a bit cramped here, but we are all having a great time and that is the main thing eh....that's what Christmas is all about eh! spendng time with good friends and family....I wouldn't want it any other way ;)

Have a lovely weekend and I'll catch up with you all next week....We might go out tomorrow and build a snowman and take some piccies of the christmas lights around here...so that will be something to look out for...

Christmas at Happy's House

Ok gals, heres my pictures of my Dining room all christmasted up!...we have decided to put the bigger of the two trees in the Dining room as there is more space....and again we have chosen red white and blue for the tree.

 We have also deocrated with many of our vintage baubles this year...on cake plates and in cut glass bowls...I love red and blue coloured glass vases and bowls with a collection of christmas decorations inside them.

 
We have also added some large twigs into this enamel vase and hung baubles and birds on the branches, I was going to paint them white, but decided to keep them more natural for a change.

More vintage baubles, I love all the colours with the vintage ones....but often they are bright and fun colours that we love anyway!...

The coat hooks have not escaped either....these red spot flower lights were purchased in the sale after christmas last year for £5.00 marked down from £20.00 and look totally fabulous here....Especially displayed along with the red party hat...I love it!



I have decided to put one of the little santas over here with the cutest little angel I ever did see....they keep each other company over here!

Look at the wonderful colours...you can see how much I love colour eh......especially Red! and spots, and blue and checks....oh you get my drift don't you...I love this piccy...its sooo scrumptious.

I hope you like these piccies gals...just a little insight into our house at christmas...I hope I have managed to inspire some of you...remember this is small space living, I have soooo been used to decorating on a grand scale...but oh this house is soooo cosy!

It's a little cramped here at the Happy House at the moment, as I have my lovely son Daz home with us...all 6ft 3inches of him! and he seems to like sitting in my chair, all the time! Grrr! apparently he will be home for about a month! or until we all get fed up with each other...which I hope won't be before christmas day! LOL!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Oh my goodness! I am soooooo sorry for not being around for a while there! Oh and how vain it was of me to broadcast about my birthday, only to leave you all for more than a week!...without an update!  Thankyou all so much for my birthday wishes :) I had such a lovely day...well it all started the day before actually, as my lovely son Daz paid me a surprise visit from Uni, to wish me a HAPPY Birthday....as you can imagine...I was grinning from ear to ear!  it was such a lovely surprise!

Freddy surprised me by bringing me breakfast in bed...lovely smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels with Bucks Fizz and choccies! HIC! oh I was in heaven!...He also surprised me with 44 pink roses and wonderful pink ribbon tied balloons with lights in them...which were so special! Rosie bought me my favourite moisturising cream and gave me a lovely card, that melted my heart :) Its the little things in life that are so special...I think as we grow older we realise that.  The rest of my day was filled with visiting my Mum who treated us to a lovely meal out...which I must recommend here.

We then went to visit Freddy's Mum and Dad....they are a complete contrast to my Mum and her partner Reg....have you ever seen the film, My Big Fat Greek Wedding! well the quieter family is my Mum and the Big Greek family is Freddy's Mum and Dad....which I love because it is always so lively around their house...everyone speaks across each other so the talking gets louder and louder...the stories they tell are so funny...they were born in the East End of London, so those of you with family from that area will know what I am talking about...they know everyone and all the conversations involve somebody with a long catchy name...for instance Bobby the Butcher, One eyed Dave and Pearly Bird! I love talking to them about the old days...that made my Birthday soooo complete :)

Do you like my first picture....I don't know whether a few of you have already posted about this card already (it is available in the shops but I have added it in photoshop to my picture! hehehe!) as I have been busy in my half hour and have not gotten around to visit all of your lovely blogs lately....but YAY! Chrimbo is looming....and this card is soo apt...I ventured out into town the other day and didnt like it at all...why oh why is everyone so caught up in buying nasty pressies out on the High Street...I have been at home crafting my christmas pressies, drinking mulled wine (is this alcoholic?) and eating mince pies...putting on as much weight as the turkeys that we will be eating for christmas lunch! LOL, using items that I have bought through the year and it has been so rewarding and not half...even a quarter or a smidge of the price that Kirstie has paid for her HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS! Oh do please have a look over HERE My Freddy has written a post about her! and you know what he is like! its sooo funny!

...and just a thought - check out this lovely site HERE its all about a Victorian Christmas, which is sooo delightful with lots of traditions, History and nostalgia!...it also happens to be a TV programme on at the moment...so if you are not watching it, you can find out when you can :)

I have also been good this week in sending pressies abroad and I also packaged up my Secret Santa parcel to my Secret Santa partner...so one of you will be receiving that soon! Here is a preview of it wrapped up....Ooo Sooo Yummy...I wouldn't mind receiving it myself...they say those are the best presents to give don't they :)  

The Father Christmas's above we found in a local Charity shop...aren't they cute and only 20p each! such a bargain eh! and so exciting when you find something old and so cute...something that has stood the test of time and not been made cheaply and fallen apart just as quick...that is the beauty of buying and sending a handmade or vintage gift :)

These are some of our vintage baubles that we have collected through the year...I cannot bare to part with them and we have decorated everywhere with them this year! and the little scottie tin that I purchased in July comes so in handy now, as they look lovely set amoungst the baubles.

For my next post I will be showing you my dining room and how we have decorated it for Christmas, until then, have fun everyone and I'll be back in a few days :)

....But first....its my Birthday today!!! Woo Hoo!...

Hello Gals...As you all know I have had trouble with my computer just lately and it went off to the 'Tech Guys' the other day....well it was back in no time, only to have everything wiped off of it! Hmmm! anyway at least it is working now! (touch wood!)

Right! so now I have the painstaking job of loading everything (thank goodness I had saved all my pictures!) back onto it....as it seems I have a new disk! so I have lost everything....and each day I am realising how much work I have to do, just  to reload everything back onto it...

I have also realised that all my email contacts are now missing....yes! everyone of you that has emailed me in the past has been deleted off!...so please please please! if you have ever emailed me or left a comment in the last year...could you just drop me a little line - so that I can have your email addresses back again! This time I have set an email account up in googlemail, so that I will not loose you all, if it ever happens again :)

This Week!.....

I have toothache!...is there no end to my talent! for being the ill'est person around right now!!!!! GRRRR !....

So off to the doctors I went this morning and it turns out that my wisdom tooth on the bottom right hand side has decided to appear!!...Goodness Gracious Me! aren't I a little old for all that milarkie!

Actually I had thought that I had gotton away with it all...thinking that if it hadn't happened by now! it never will!...mind you - there is room for the little blighter to come through! I mean! what with my life long love of all things sweet...I have had a few losses in the back teeth department over the years.

Oh but the pain!...I was sent home with some strong pain killers and told to sit it out....so in true British spirit....onwards and upwards, here I am trying to get through another rotten saga!....It seems like I have spent a few weeks in bed now...still never mind...it is the right time for Hibernating isnt it ;)

Christmas decorations

Well its time to venture down to the garage and sort out all of our christmas decorations...Yes we have bought all of them with us (when we moved) and we have been buying vintage baubles through the year as well...goodness knows where they are all going to go! we have stacks and stacks! and as I have over-filled our little cottage already, it will be a major uphaul!

 Above are some of the lovely decorations that we have found just lately...the colours are fabulous, so bright and decadent.
The first picture at the top was taken 2 years ago now, when we lived on the Island (stepford wives) we had a lovely sitting room there - very large though...you could of put a tree anywhere and it would never look crowded....but here at 'The Meadows' it is a different story!

I really do not know where I shall be placing the tree...if at all, coz I like everything as it is...its all cosy and if I were to move anything I am frightened that I will loose that feeling...but hey ho...onwards and upwards as my old Nanny Hilda used to say!...Perhaps I will have to compromise and not have one in the sitting room at all...we'll see eh!;)

I do love decorating with twigs...check them out over the doorway above in our old house...you can hang baubles and clip cards to the branches and it really does look effective.

 Also another thing that we do....and I can see my Mum shaking her head in disgrace!LOL! is Card swapping! Oh yes gals....if the card doesn't match the decor, it gets put in the cupboard and replaced with one that does! one that I have either made myself or saved from years previous! Is that SAD or what! hehehe!

Well it is a bit cheeky...but if peeps don't know me by now! their card deserves to be put in the cupboard don't you think! :D
